Fresh new improv format where you set the place!

Elsewhere in the Building is a friendly improv format that happens in different places within an overarching location suggested by the audience, creating a world of multiple scenes.

This is the first of a series of monthly shows WIT will be holding at Thistle Hall, the next will be Friday 1 May (Micetro), then on 5 June and 3 July (shows tba).

The Wellington Improvisation Troupe, aka WIT, is a member-based community theatre group and registered charity, teaching and performing in Wellington since 2003. Our theatre is made up on the spot, usually inspired by suggestions from the audience and each other. WIT players share a love of storytelling and work together as a team to inspire the audience, we’re sometimes serious, often hilarious and always totally unpredictable.

Pay-what-you-can tickets from $5, and door sales. Entrance to the Upstairs Hall is in Arthur St, or through the exhibition space entrance in Cuba Street.

You’re also very welcome to download our show poster, perhaps to print for  your work noticeboard, or your fridge, or just to keep it for special.

Five Hundred Shows Later – NZIF 2023

A community full of classic improv characters come together for an epic celebration show. What could possibly go wrong?

This show happened in the past! There were a lot of doorknobs (“Every conceivable, inconceivable and improbable connotation of doorknobs entertainingly explored“), and it was a delight to be part of the 2023 NZ Improv Festival in Wellington. Maybe we’ll bring it back one day.

Five Hundred Shows explores what happens when a small town of enthusiastic amateur dramatists build the most epic show that was ever built.

When: Friday October 6th, 8pm
